在线教学课程思政典型案例—新世纪大学英语B2U1 课程思政方案

一、思政目标

本单元以和谐为主题,课文聚焦陌生人间的善意与帮助,思政元素关键词为“kindnessfaithharmony”。教师从善是人的本性,信是善的前提,是社会和谐的基础之一,社会主义核心价值观中“友善”“诚信”与“和谐”的关系四个方面入手,选取思政素材,鼓励学生思考现代社会善的尴尬处境,客观思辨地对待善和信在某种情况下缺席的原因和解决方法,拓宽单元主题“和谐”内涵,体现外语课程思政育人的价值。

二、教学目标

1. Identify the characteristics of harmonious society, based upon a broadened awareness of kindness;

2. Use topic-related vocabulary, such as, humanity, kindness, integrity, harmony, in speech production;

3. Employ sentence structure I am Ved. by ..,even when it seems to ,Indeed, no matter how..., one can still.... to conclude in speech production;

4. Identify the hierarchy and relation among elements of socialism core values

Module 1. Activating cultural and linguistic background knowledge (10 mins)

Module 2. Text comprehension A: Dilemma in kindness(30 mins)

Module 3. Text comprehension B: Journey of finding the faith(30 mins)

Module 4. Reflection on the Theme:  Dilemma in kindness and integrity/faith(20 mins)

四、教学步骤

       Module 1. Activating cultural and linguistic background knowledge

实施步骤:

warm-up环节,利用哲学三问:what, why, how . What is kindness ? Why do we need it? How does it work in our society?

step1.(what)

教师通过网上热议的摔倒老人扶不扶的讨论对比疫情期间社区义工义务照顾居民生活的照片,融入思政1疫情期间的陌生人间的善和互助,配以名人引言,引导学生总结善的特征和定义(what)。

思政要素2明确中国认为善是人的本性,而西方认为恶是人类本性。我国对“善”与“良”的论述:穷则独善其身,达则兼济天下(中英文)。

Step2.(why & how)

提问:为什么这个社会需要善(why)?因为大家想生活地美好。全国人民如何拥有美好生活(how)?融入思政要素3主席关于和谐的论述。

Step 1. 新一轮what

对家人对朋友善是容易实施的,那么 What’s the situation among strangers?引入课文kindness of Strangers.

Step 2 激活单词(词达人)

Step 3找主题相关信息(what)

提问:  作者如何被对待的 V.s. 如何被告诉的活动1.填表格

针对表格内容梳理,对文章10段中提及的各地互黑的情形,作者给予了事实性的更正回答,而我们国家也面临这样的污名化,用英语向国际发声要靠我们。思政要素4拓展认识:西方对中国的污名化,可以引导学生课后观看近日东方卫视上复旦大学教授张维为的视频“这就是中国:拒绝傲慢与偏见”

 Module 3. Text comprehension B: Journey of finding the faithwhy

Step 1 问题并置,引出信的概念

方法:让学生分组讨论红字部分的问题:

1.Why do drivers and community volunteers help and love people without being afraid of misunderstanding?

2.Why is there a contradiction between what he was told and actually treated?

Because government gives the credit for their deeds. In other words, faith or trust from others make them work without hesitation.

Doctors are encouraged to serve on front line, while drivers and community volunteers are willing to serve for free. All are praised by our government and media.

引出信的概念:“言而有信”,语出<<论语>>。指自己要诚实守信,朋友间要互相信任。

引出信对应的英文同义词:faithtrust honesty,  integrity,  credit .belief.what

贴叶子的活动设计,思政要素12让学生们体验到个人素质与社会取向和国家目标的关系。

 练习题思政设计:

练习题选择Enjoy English本单元教材的“乐享英语”是1985 年为非洲灾民筹集善款的45位美国明星联唱义演共同演绎一首歌曲We Are The World,不少已经离开人世,但是该首歌曲最终为当时的非洲筹集了至少6000 万美元的慈善捐款。

思政要素13,思考疫情期间中国践行人类命运共同体的各种举措,激发自豪感和责任感!

思政要素14引导学生们翻译10句《共担时代责任 共促全球发展》中重点内容。这是国家主席习近平2017117日出席世界经济论坛年会开幕式时并发表的题为《共担时代责任 共促全球发展》的主旨演讲。

Here are key quotes from the 50-minute address, which elaborates on China's solution to current global challenges: building a "community of shared future for mankind" that features all-win cooperation and sharing:

1. Nuclear weapons, the Sword of Damocles that hangs over mankind, should be completely prohibited and thoroughly destroyed over time to make the world free of nuclear weapons.

结语:

大学英语与思政的结合是语言与文化和价值观的融合,其融合方式和层次不尽相同,但有一点是共同的,就是要做到如盐在水,润物无声。要想达到这个目标,既需要教师的精心设计,也需要课堂的实践检验,是一个不断调整与更新的过程。本案例实为抛砖引玉,望各位同事给予宝贵修改意见。
